Project carried out as a member of the Project Dodo team at Delft Aerospace Rocket Engineering (DARE). Submitted and presented at ECSSMET 2024.

The project investigates a low-cost method for manufacturing precise titanium-to-carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) joints, specifically designed for launch vehicle interstages. It uses additive-manufactured titanium components and prepreg carbon composites, integrating these with specialized mandrel tooling to achieve tight manufacturing tolerances. The approach enables robust, high-quality hybrid joints at a cost accessible to student rocketry teams and other resource-limited groups.
